Top Software Development Companies in Vietnam: A Buyer’s Comparison
Twelve software development companies in Vietnam compared on verified location, service focus, engagement models and published pricing, with best-fit guidance and a worksheet for narrowing your list to three.
Key takeaways
- Twelve companies across Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang are compared on the same public evidence; they range from 10–49 to 1,000–9,999 employees.
- Published directory rate bands are mostly under $25 or $25–$49 per hour; minimum project sizes range from $1,000 to $50,000.
- Narrow your list to three companies by project fit, then compare proposals on one written scope.
On this page
Vietnam has become a mainstream destination for software development, with hundreds of companies serving clients in the US, Europe, Japan, Australia and across Asia. That choice makes shortlisting harder, not easier. This comparison applies one set of criteria to twelve companies so you can see differences in size, focus, engagement model and pricing, and then use a worksheet to choose three for detailed conversations.
Publisher disclosure
This comparison is published by PoliteTech Software, a Vietnam-based development provider that is included in the shortlist. We use the criteria and sources described below. Inclusion does not imply that we have worked with or independently audited every company. Companies are grouped by fit, not ranked by quality.
Who this shortlist is for
Different buyers need different partners:
- Startups often need product thinking, low minimums and the flexibility to change scope.
- SMEs usually want a reliable team for a defined product or an ongoing roadmap, with clear communication.
- Enterprises may need scale, multiple delivery sites, security documentation and procurement experience.
- Agencies look for white-label or overflow capacity with careful client boundaries.
No company is the best choice for all four. Use the profiles below to find the companies that match your situation.
How we selected the companies
We started from Clutch’s directory of software developers in Vietnam and companies listed in its app, AI and Flutter categories, then selected companies that:
- publish a headquarters or engineering office in Vietnam;
- have a public Clutch profile with service focus, size and pricing information;
- offer software development to international clients.
For each company we recorded location, size band, service focus, engagement models and published pricing from its Clutch profile, and checked the official website where it was accessible on 5 November 2026. We did not use directory list order or sponsored placements as a ranking signal, and we do not combine ratings and review counts into a score. Twelve companies is an editorial selection, not a complete census of the market.

How to narrow your shortlist
Use this worksheet to select three companies. Score each 1–5, weight the criteria that matter to you, and keep notes on unknowns.
| Criterion | Weight (example) | Company A | Company B | Company C |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Relevant service focus and evidence | 25% | |||
| Size and capacity appropriate to project | 15% | |||
| Engagement model fits how we work | 15% | |||
| Published minimum fits budget | 10% | |||
| Location and working overlap | 10% | |||
| Review content from similar projects | 15% | |||
| Early responsiveness and questions asked | 10% |
Shortlist worksheet. Weights are illustrative; adjust to your priorities.
Start by eliminating companies whose minimum project size or model clearly does not fit. Then read reviews from projects similar to yours and send a short enquiry. How a company responds to a first enquiry — the questions it asks, the speed and clarity of its reply — is valuable evidence.
Questions to ask before requesting proposals
- Source code ownership: who owns code, and when does it transfer? Can repositories live in our organisation from day one?
- Staffing: who exactly will work on our project, where, and at what allocation?
- QA: is testing done by dedicated QA engineers, and what is automated?
- Maintenance: how is post-launch support priced and organised?
- Change management: how are new requests estimated and approved?
- Security: how are access, devices and confidential data handled?
Then send the same written brief to your three companies and compare proposals with our guide on how to evaluate a software outsourcing company.
Frequently asked questions
Why outsource software development to Vietnam?
Buyers commonly cite a growing engineering talent pool, competitive rates and a time zone (UTC+7) that suits Asia-Pacific clients and allows overnight progress for Western clients. Evaluate these benefits against your specific project and vendor.
Which city is best: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Da Nang?
All three have established software companies. Choose the vendor and team first; city matters mainly for visits and local preferences. See our Hanoi comparison.
Are larger companies safer?
Larger companies can scale and absorb staff changes, but your project may get less senior attention. Match company size to project size.
How reliable are Clutch ratings?
They are useful context. Read detailed reviews relevant to your project, note review counts and dates, and call references.
